AFGHAN EVACUATION AND RESETTLEMENT Afghanistan • Ireland • LA

We were already helping the original members of the Afghan Girls Robotics Team known as the Afghan Dreamers look for academic scholarships in the US when they were issued a threat from the Taliban and went into hiding in Pakistan. Then we began supporting them financially, paying for their hotel accommodation and food. Thanks to the Irish government we were able to secure special refugee visas for the young women and their two guardians, and with the help of Dublin City Council we were able to secure places for them at a university in the city. For seven weeks we supported them in hotel accommodation until we were able to find a house in which they are now comfortably settled.

In August we were part of a logistics team that supported their family members to enter HKIA Airport and depart Kabul on flights hours before the explosions on August 26. We are now supporting the resettlement of 45 people in Los Angeles, paying for hotel rooms, and finding and furnishing long-term accommodation.

Meanwhile our work in Ireland and on the Lower East Side continues, where we are developing and launching community cultural projects centering youth living with economic deprivation.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR WORK!
