Culture Warriors Inchicore

Our Culture Warriors Inchicore program invites participants to explore what it means to be a culture warrior through workshops in visual art, songwriting and rap and ancient Irish self defense. We also learned about the internationally known artist Sean Scully who is from Inchicore.

During our spring 2018 Cuala Clubs project with children we learned about Inchicore history and culture through activities like mapmaking, photography, poetry and music.

#IamIrish

#IamIrish is a creative exhibition curated by Tipperary woman Lorraine Maher celebrating the voices and experiences of Irish people everywhere who happen to be mixed race. Begun in London in 2016 and shown in Dublin in 2017, this growing movement’s exhibition runs at NY Irish Center November 8 – 30. Cuala Foundation at the United Nations

Cuala Foundation executive director Susan McKeown was commissioned by NGO ATD Fourth World to write a song for International Day for the Eradication of Poverty based on the testimony of people living homeless in Dublin. She performed the song at the UN with fellow Irish songwriter Michael Brunnock on 17 October 2018.

Irish Central Anam Award

Cuala Foundation founder and executive director Susan McKeown received the Irish Central Anam Award for ‘discovering and revealing the soul of Irish Song’ as well as her work producing CualaNYC 2016 at a ceremony at the American Irish Historical Society on Fifth Avenue in New York in February 2018.
